81-Year-Old Grandma Streams Minecraft to Earn Money for Her 17-Year-Old Grandson’s Cancer Treatment!

81-year-old grandmother GrammaCrackers from Arizona, USA, has broken the stereotype that “gaming is a young person’s domain.” To save her 17-year-old grandson, who was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive soft tissue cancer, she learned how to stream and play Minecraft at the invitation of her grandchildren. Her very first video garnered 500,000 views, and her monthly subscriptions exceeded 100,000, quickly making her a YouTube star.

She had never played games before. Her initial intention was to connect with the younger generation, but it later developed into a genuine passion. She once humorously said, “I can stay up all night playing now—no mom telling me to go to sleep!”

After her grandson was diagnosed in 2024, the treatment costs were as high as buying a house. She used her video and streaming income to pay for the medical expenses. Viewers also spontaneously donated, with amounts ranging from $1 to $5,000, raising nearly $35,000 through crowdfunding.

Recently, the grandmother announced that her grandson’s cancer has receded and he has recovered. This journey showcased the unity and warmth of the gaming community and conveyed the power of love and hope.
